Routes linking Salem to the Mid-Willamette Valley region

If you live in Marion or Polk counties, Cherriots Regional connects you with the places you want to go. Most Cherriots Regional buses run Monday through Saturday and Express Routes 1X, 10X, 20X, 30X, 40X, and 50X all connect to the Salem Downtown Transit Center. Express Route 80X runs on weekdays and connects the Keizer Transit Center to the Wilsonville Transit Center via the Woodburn Memorial Transit Center. Route 45 provides service in and between Dallas, Monmouth, and Independence. Our area partners also connect with Cherriots Local and Cherriots Regional to provide service to Grand Ronde, Lincoln City, McMinnville, Canby, and beyond.

Route 45: Central Polk County

Route 45 provides regular (fixed-route) service with regular bus stops in and between Dallas, Independence, and Monmouth. It's available to all riders with no application required. The cost is the same as other Cherriots Regional routes. Limited off-route trips are available in the service area of each city (shown on the Route 45 route page). Off-route trips must be scheduled the day before the trip by 4:30 p.m. on weekdays and by 3 p.m. on Sundays. Reservations are on a first come, first served basis. Please note the number of trips are limited in order to keep the bus on schedule. To book a trip, call the Cherriots call center at 503-315-5544.

Regional Partners

  • Cherriots Local bus service in Salem and Keizer. Most Cherriots Regional buses go to the Salem Downtown Transit Center which is served by Cherriots Local buses.
  • Yamhill County Transit serves the West Salem Transit Center and travels to Amity and McMinnville.
  • Canby Area Transit (CAT) connects with Cherriots Regional Routes 10X and 20X at Bi-Mart in Woodburn. CAT Route 99X goes to Canby (where you can connect with SMART) and Oregon City (where you can connect with TriMet).
  • South Metro Area Regional Transit (SMART) partners with Cherriots to operate Route 1X. Based out of the Salem Downtown Transit Center, Route 1X travels to Wilsonville where you can also connect with TriMet to Portland.
  • Amtrak trains based out of the Salem Amtrak Station serve stops north to Portland and beyond, as well as stops south to Eugene and beyond.
  • POINT bus service is operated by the Oregon Department of Transportation and stops at the Amtrak Station in Salem. Riders can travel south as far as Eugene and north as far as Portland.
  • Greyhound buses stop at the Woodburn Transit Center and serve the entire United States.
  • Woodburn Transit System connects with Cherriots Regional Route 10X (at the Woodburn Transit Center and Woodburn Bi-Mart) and Route 20X (at the Woodburn Bi-Mart).
  • The Silver Trolley, operated by the City of Silverton, provides dial-a-ride service within Silverton.
  • The West Valley Hospital Connections Van provides wheelchair accessible transportation for patients’ medical appointments to and from four service locations in Dallas and Monmouth. 
  • Shuttle Oregon is a shuttle serving Portland, Salem, and Central Oregon.
  • Flix Bus serves downtown Salem and offers two round trips a day to Corvallis, Eugene, and Portland.
  • Monmouth-Independence (MI) Trolley travels along Main Street, in Monmouth, and Monmouth Street, in Independence, Monday through Sunday, with multiple stops along the way.
